Team earns 1st Trip to ACHA National Tournament

The Virginia Tech Ice Hockey team has earned the clubs first ever ACHA National Tournament appearance in team history. The Hokies finished the regular season with a final ranking of #7 in the Southeast Region. This would set up a first day matchup at the Regional tournament against Kennesaw State University who finished #6. The Hokies controlled the play early and often as they went on to a 7-5 victory over the Owls.
Day two of Regionals would have the Hokies facing a familiar foe. With the reseed of teams complete following the first days games, the Hokies drew inter-state rival Liberty University. After an early exit from the MACH South Tournament by Liberty the week before, the Hokies knew the game would be difficult. The Hokies came out flying in the first period scoring the games first two goals and never looked back. The Hokies defeated Liberty University 5-3 to earn their firs trip to the ACHA National Tournament being held in Ft. Myers, FL.
The Hokies are one of the final 16 teams left in the country , and will be representing the Southeast region as the #4 seed.
